Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Beef Chili and Sloppy Joes are three dinners from the Tomato Potato recipes, and Shop builds one grocery list for all three. Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Beef Chili each serve 6. Sloppy Joes serves 4.
The recipes list 29 ingredient lines, which combine into 21 grocery-list lines. On a new install, the app marks 6 as covered, leaving 15 to buy. Garlic, olive oil, black pepper and salt start in Kitchen on Have it, and so does the onions row, which covers yellow onion. On Shop, those lines say In your kitchen. Chili powder is not in Kitchen. The app still keeps it off the buy list because it treats that name as a staple, and the row does not say staple.
Shop’s By type view groups the list by aisle.
This is the list as Shop shows it, with the amount written before the name. The app puts the name on top and the amount underneath. Items a new install already has in Kitchen as Have it, and items the app treats as staples, show inside their aisle with an Add button and stay off the list you share or send to a cart. Tap Add on a row and it joins the list.
Ground beef from all three recipes is one line, 3 1/2 lb, because Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Sloppy Joes each use 1 lb and Beef Chili uses 1 1/2 lb. Garlic adds to 5 cloves, 3 from Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and 2 from Beef Chili. Yellow onion adds to 3, one from each dinner. Salt adds to 2 1/2 tsp, from 1 tsp in Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, 1 tsp in Beef Chili and 1/2 tsp in Sloppy Joes. Black pepper adds to 3/4 tsp, from 1/2 tsp in Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and 1/4 tsp in Sloppy Joes. No line in this grocery list joins two amounts with a plus. Crushed tomatoes stays 1 can, the diced tomatoes from Beef Chili show as tomatoes, 1 can, and tomato paste stays 2 tbsp. Shop leaves the can size off that line. On the recipe, the crushed tomatoes and the diced tomatoes are each 28 oz, and the kidney beans are 15 oz.
A combined row can also show recipe names or a recipe count after the amount. This list is these three dinners alone, at the servings above, on a new install. Shop these days also includes any other meal already on those days, and it keeps lines you typed onto Shop.
