Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Serves 6 · about 40 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 12 oz spaghetti
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can crushed tomatoes, 28 oz
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Steps
- Heat the oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Cook the onion 5 minutes. Add the garlic for 30 seconds.
- Add the beef. Break it up and cook until no pink remains, about 6 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste.
- Pour in the tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20 minutes, stirring now and then.
- Meanwhile, boil the spaghetti in salted water until al dente. Drain.
- Toss the pasta with the sauce or spoon the sauce over bowls of spaghetti.
