Three dinners, one grocery list

Three dinners from the Tomato Potato recipes: one serves 4 and two serve 6, so there are leftovers for lunch. All three use onions, garlic and olive oil, and two use carrots. The recipes list 28 ingredient lines. Added together they are 18 lines, and a new install already marks 5 of those as in the kitchen, which leaves 13 to buy.

The plan

  1. Roast Chicken and Carrots
  2. Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
  3. Lentil Soup

Already in the kitchen

This is the list as Shop shows it. Carrots stay on one line with both amounts, because one recipe counts them and the other weighs them. Shop drops prep words such as diced, and turns 3 or more teaspoons into tablespoons (3 1/4 tsp of salt shows as 1 1/8 tbsp). A new Tomato Potato install marks onions, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper as Have it in Kitchen, so Shop shows them with an Add button and leaves them off the list you buy, share and send. Switch any of them to Need it and they join the list.

Do it in the app

  1. Open Plan, tap Add under a day's dinner, and pick one of the recipes. Do the same on two more days.
  2. In Plan, tap Shop these days. Shop builds the list, grouped by aisle.
  3. Check items off in the store, share the list as text, or send it to a Kroger or King Soopers cart.

Tomato Potato is free to download. Free includes three saved imports and one Kroger or King Soopers cart. The plan, the list and store searches stay free. A subscription removes both limits for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US, and the yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Recipes stay on your phone.
