Support

A person reads every email to support@scrollingisevil.com. Say which phone you use, the app version, and what you were doing when the problem showed up. For a problem during a night, include the room code.

Host a night

1. Open Pencils Up and pick a pack on Tonight. The free sample is included; weekly packs need a subscription.
2. Start the night. The lobby shows a four-character room code, a link, and a QR code.
3. Players scan the QR code or open the link on their phones and type a team name. No app or account is needed for players.
4. To show the night on a TV, open the TV link on a laptop or smart-TV browser, or use the Screen view on a tablet or phone connected to the TV.
5. Step through each question. Tap Lock answers when time is up; once locked, no more answers are accepted. Answers appear on your phone by team, and exact matches are pre-marked correct. You can change any mark.
6. Reveal the answer, check the sources on your phone if a team disputes it, and move on. Standings show between rounds and at the end.

With no signal, you can run a night from the app alone: read the questions, mark teams by hand, and print the questions and answer sheets from the pack screen.

If a night is interrupted

The app saves the night on your phone, so reopening it offers to continue for up to 12 hours. Players who refresh their browser rejoin the same team. A room closes 12 hours after its last activity.

Subscription and restore

One sample pack is free. Weekly packs need a subscription, which renews automatically until you cancel. To cancel, use your store account settings: on iPhone, Settings, your name, Subscriptions; on Google Play, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it. On a new phone, sign in to the same store account, open the app, and tap Settings, Restore purchases. The terms have the details.

Refunds

The store you bought from handles refunds. For Apple, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, see Google's refund page.

A wrong or disputed answer

Email support@scrollingisevil.com with the pack, the question, and what you found. Each pack lists its sources for every answer, and we correct a pack when a source or the question wording is wrong.

Share with another host

Settings, Share with another host, sends a short message and a link to the app.

Your data

The privacy page lists what the app and the room server store and for how long.
